About the Sustainable Cities Conference

For the first time in human history, the majority of the world’s population now lives in cities. This new reality presents a myriad of challenges and opportunities: in a rapidly urbanizing world, the way we design, build, and live in cities has a major impact on resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystem preservation, and quality of life.  With its first annual conference, Washington University’s Office of Sustainability will explore innovative ideas and strategies that advance a sustainable urban future.  Featuring thought leaders from across the country, the conference will explore a number of domains of sustainability including buildings, urban design, landscape, food, energy, and more.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to our co-sponsors for making this event possible. Thank you to:
